Tired of menstrual bloating? One thing to consider if you often feel bloated during your period is inflammation.
Inflammation is a leading cause of bloating. Unfortunately, most of us simply can’t know if we have inflammation or not as we can’t see inside our bodies. Here’s what you can do: eat foods that are known to be natural inflammation busters and see if you begin to notice a change in your bloated feelings.
Here’s what you should eat when you bloating before or during your period:
1. Magnesium
Magnesium is found in dark green leafy veggies, like mustard greens, collard greens and dandelion leaves. Most of us don’t consume enough dark green leafy vegetables. Start eating more of these vegetables or take a supplement containing 300 to 400 mg of magnesium.
2. Coconut Oil
Coconut oil is a well know anti-inflammatory and is a top home remedy for a number of different maladies, including bloating. It has been shown to aid in hormone production, promote solid cell structure, and also boost the immune system. Consume one tablespoon of coconut oil a day. You can also get coconut cream concentrate, which has the consistency of peanut butter. You should eat two tablespoons daily.
Here’s a recipe for scrambled Eggs in Coconut Oil:

4. Consult a Homeopathic Physician
According to research, there are five possible homeopathic remedies for menstrual period bloating. They are Nux vomica, Pulsatilla, Lachesis, Natrum Muriatricum, and Sepia. As for which remed is right for you that would have to be determined by a homeopathic physician as each remedy is for specific symptoms.
5. Get active and exercise
Exercise stimulates blood circulation which brings more nutrients to an area and can help ease inflammation. To eliminate inflammation and bloating, go to the gym, do yoga or just go for a walk. The activity will help.
Bonus tip: don’t forget to take a period vitamin. A period vitamin that is rich in essential vitamins and minerals and hormone-balancing herbs can reduce inflammation and get rid of uncomfortable bloated feelings.
